Just finished this picture as a surprise gift for my wonderful friend I hope you like it!
This is the kind of stuff I sketch out during free time at work. Done with a medium Sharpie pen and ultra-fine Sharpies on plain copy paper. NO PRE-SKETCH in pencil.
Comments and feedback greatly appreciated, thanks!
I love all your colorful works!! I am getting back into my art...it's been a LONG time and I am always afraid of color. I am mostly a sketcher with pencil and charcoals. Any suggestions on how to ease my way into color? Thanks!
Thanks very much! I know what it's like to have a long dry spell with art. I didn't start getting back into it until a couple of years ago. Just never had the time like when I was younger. I also used to deal mainly with pencil, but don't touch it much these days. As far as easing into color, I don't think there is one simple way to do that. For me, color speaks volumes, so I let it do the talking for me. Suggestions would include starting out with colors you are comfortable with, minimal shading, use of flat color to start you off and then adding pops of it as accents throughout your pieces. The more you work with color, the more comfortable you'll be, so experiment and try different shades of one specific until you feel good about it. Then, just add in more as you progress. Hope this helps!
It's a swirly purple tree, but your interpretation is very cool. I'm in a Dr. Seuss kind of vibe currently and have a similar one in the works. Thanks so much, I'm glad you like it!
lol, thanks! I LIKE that you over analyzed it and I LIKE hearing other ppls POV on my work. Just bc I create one thing doesn't mean it isn't open to interpretation by someone else.
